3/02/2010 Minutes - It's Quiet. Too quiet...

A quiet, productive and short-handed meeting today. A prompt minutes, too.

こんにちは peoplez.

WHOA minutes on the day of the meeting?
why yes ;)

Today we discussed about Chibi Con on topics such as security, t-shirts, JCDC performance, Maid Cafe, panels, and a zombie game.
Also if you are interested in submitting a Chibi Con LOGO please do! This should be your own original artwork!

We are hosting Anime Night tomorrow. Stop by and watch some anime at the Student Center at the old commuters lounge
(Where the CSI offices are located) from 8pm - 11pm.
BUT tomorrow is different because it is Bring Your Own Anime day! :D
Meaning just bring in anime you want to watch and we will try to watch it.

Also dont forget about the BAKE SALE next Wednesday at Richardson.
PLEASE POST ON THE FORUM ON WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING/HELPING WITH.

Also I had created a FORUM that you guys should sign up and post if you want to be more involved with things and know what is going on.
I suggest signing up so you can receive emails if someone replies to your thread/post unlike posting as a "guest"
If you haven't noticed the link I posted TWICE here is the URL for the forum:
http://japanc.roflforum.net/

I created this forum to be more organized with event planning and such.
So if you have any ideas for chibi con (for example) you want to discuss with others, post away!
Do not spam btw.
(yay for emphasis!)

In other news:
There is also a Game Show next week on the 10th (same day as the bake sale!!!).
UN 1010 at 8pm to 11pm. We are co-sponsoring MUG.
Anime Night is cancelled next week because of the game show.

JCDC also performed today which was excellent. Thank you for the performance JCDC! <3

Thank you !!
-CC

But as always, the true excitement took place behind the scenes.
My observations for the day:

5:25: Wow. Axel is TERRIBLE at Tic-Tac-Toe. We love him anyway.

5:29 - I earn the title "White Boy A" from AJ, whereas Matt becomes "White boy #2". VICTORY IS MINE!

5:34 - AJ demands the meeting begin, Quel being present or not. Despite not having any actual power, he appoints Kathy responsible for beginning the meeting, much to her surprise and confusion. A power struggle ensues between the enraged Suzanne and the confused and reluctant Kathy, with AJ caught in the middle.

5:35- Quel enters. An anti-climactic end to said power struggle. Alas, she informs us that Abdul won't be here tonight due to family issues. The room goes quiet. Quel leaves at 6:30 tonight...the countdown begins.

5:40 - Wow. I think we may actually accomplish something during this meeting. I mean, I'm not paying attention, but...well...we're being all quiet and stuff.

6:11 - Matt: "Haha! Zombies. Dead serious."
*Quel holds up Cici's "Please shut up" sign*

6:16 - Josh bellows a roar demanding silence. It works. "My brain went quiet..." commented Quel, struggling to fill the silence with what she was going to say when it was loud.

6:22 - ...We all lost the game. Thanks Quel. <_<>

6:23 - Wakes are not Matt's social event of choice.

6:23 - Quel does not want 10 camometers.

6:29 - Squeaky frogs are apparently scary, comments Suz, about Josh's yelling voice.

6:30 - Quel leaves us, but the meeting continues...oh gawd. What's going to happen?

6:39 - Sid broke our table. What a mook. Uh, anyway, with Quel gone...

6:45 - WE DANCE! Well, JCDC did, anyway, giving us another performance in the back of the room. Way to go!

-Kevin

2/23/10 Minutes - The Meeting That Would Not Die

A long meeting, with lots of stuff to talk about. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention and have no idea what any of it was. Luckily, our secretary was!

Hello Japan Club members!
Yay or nay for today's snow day! :D I know I liked it haha.
Anyway let's get down to business. :)

Thanks to those who came to the Mitsuwa field trip and the Chinese New Years parade!
I hope you guys had a lot of fun!
Just a reminder that Quel did make during the meetings: If you aren't coming and signed up for it, please let us know.

Reminder about bake sales!
March 10th @ 2:30pm-5pm at Richardson
March 31st & April 8th & April 21st @ 10am-4:30pm at Dickson.
I MADE A FORUM FOR THE JAPAN CLUB.
please take the time to tell us if you are helping out at the bake sale by clicking HERE.

on that note i decided to make a temporary forum for the club.
japanc.roflforum.net
hopefully it will make things easier to communicate with everyone.
the thread is opened to guests but lets us know who you are. (and signing up is more appreciated!)
post appropriately! :)

Anyway during the meeting we have talked about MSU's World Fair.
It is on Thursday April 22nd from 12:00pm - 2:00 pm at the Student Center Quad.
We discussed about any ideas for the events.

Also Quel is still accepting people who haven't bought a badge for Anime Next yet.
If you buy the AnimeNext badge yourself, it will cost $42.50 until April 1st.
BUT because we are forming a group, we can get the group discount price for $37.50 :D
Quel has also reserved two rooms at the double tree hotel, for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
So far about half of the spots have been taken. If your interested, find Quel. Best way is to contact her directly at fordr3@mail.montclair.edu or email japanc@gmail.com
In order to claim a spot, you need to give a $10 deposit.

Anime Next is an anime convention for the New Jersey / New York metropolitan area.
Check out their website at www.animenext.org

thank you!

Meanwhile, I was busy whining about how long the meeting was and bothering everyone.
My minutes:

5:00 - Half of the attending members are in the office. I arrive amidst a conversation that both overflows me with a feeling of dignity and a feeling that I don't want to be touched for a few days.

5:20 - Strategically retreating from overwhelming awkwardness, AJ, Jash, Sid and I move up to the meeting room. In place of our usual empty room stood a strange girl, who wasn't actually strange at all aside from being in our room. I skillfully negotiate her to relocate her business elsewhere in a stunning display that witnesses would later recall as "breathtaking."

5:22 - I commandeer the EBoard table to play Yu-Gi-Oh. Sid unsuccessfully flirted with me and Josh while AJ observed our game. We didn't get far before the others from the office arrived, all of whom I skillfully avoided eye contact with. Alas, our game was canceled since the meeting was soon to begin. Matt and Abdul immediately replaced us by playing Magic right next to us, and getting shoved away along with us two minutes later.

FINAL CHAPTER: DESPERATE STRUGGLE

5:30-5:40 - Meeting begins. Quel yells at us.

5:41-6:00 - Quel still yelling at us.

6:05 - I irritate Suz with body language without even saying a word. Mwahaha.

6:12 - I attempt to steal Matt's frat binder about 10 times, and talk about pancakes with Jerry and Dan Z. My efforts against violence towards women are finally recognized, and so are Cherry's damned Peruvian good looks. However, Abdul gained 3 points for saying something I can't actually remember at the moment.

6:18 - Quel tells me she's happy to see me and to shut up.

6:19 - Quel tells me to shut up again.

6:25 - Quel blathers on about some sort of money week cultural bake sale thing. I continue to bother Matt. Someone slams a hammer several times to make us shut up; SPOILER ALERT, doesn't work.

6:40 - We're past the normal ending time and show absolutely no sign of ending soon. Matt leaves. I begin to wonder if the rest of us will ever leave.

7:00 - I become certain we never will.

7:11 - I begin to wonder about the existence of other worlds. Other entire universes beyond the stars we can't see, worlds within ourselves, the true meaning of the order of natu

7:12 - MEETING OVER!

Thank god. The nightmare is finally over.

-Kevin

Under New Management

Wow. Talk about a dead blog. I couldn't help noticing this blog hadn't seen a post in more than 3 moths, and took it upon myself to start actually posting things. I'm going to try to keep this thing updated every week like it used to be...minutes, events, trip info, and just for entertainment's sake, another "minutes" from me - a little report on the weekly antics that are why we we all keep coming.

No one else ever actually bothered to suddenly announce their presence in this blog with a post, but hey, I'm always showy.

anime next!

pre reg for the next anime next is up!

right now, adult pre reg before jan 1st is 32.50 with a group discount.

the hotel that we'll be staying in, the doubletree hotel, should be 139 a night. the holiday inn is cheaper, its 119 a night, however it is down the street from the con. (by down the street i mean down the small highway...)

the room im opening up will most likely have a ten person limit. right now, i expect at least 4 people. if there is enough demand, I'll help open up another room.

(I just spoke with the department head of gaming from anime next, yay for volunteering!)

i except to put a group reg before the jan 1st.

prices have raised, by a few dollars. at the door, for 3day weekend, its $60.

artist alley prices have not been confirmed yet.

i am excited. can you tell?

Restaurant Trip info!

Nagano
23 Washington Street
Morristown, NJ
(973) 540-9120
http://www.njdiningguide.com/nagano.html

East
1405 Teaneck Rd, Teaneck, NJ
(201) 837-1260‎
East apparently doesn't have a website, but seems to have about twice the menu size.

Both are an average price range. East has the Conveyor belt. Nagano has a BYOB policy? East has drinks, including sake.

The udon is awesome at East, and I know theres plenty of terriyaki and cooked options.

If there's more than 10 people going, I think we'll split into groups so we can sit and split the check easier.

Feel free to comment.

Hope everyone had fun at our surprise trip to Mitsuwa, and at Pocketcon!

We are buying tickets for AnimeNext, 30$ currently. Contact us(more specifcally, contact Quel) before the end of the semester if you want to go.

Tokyo Jam will be coming out next semester! And next semester, we will send out an e-mail when and where the meetings will resume.

Next week, there will be no Japan Club Meeting, nor Anime Night. Enjoy your winter break!

Luis will no longer be able to attend Japan Club Meetings. For really important meetings, seek Quel.

If you think you're up to the fun and challenge of being an E-board member,or know someone who would be great in those positions, elections will take place next semester for Media Consultant and Program Coordinator.

The Media Consultant is in charge of Anime Nights, getting anime for our library, and anything else that falls under media.
The Program Coordinator is in charge of making sure our future events go smoothly.

If you're interested in any other positions, another election for the entire E-board will take place in the first week of April.

Look forward to next semester's ChibiCon! We've gotten more colleges and more clubs to co-sponsor with us! But we're still going to need help from all the members in our club, so if you can think of any want to lend a hand, let us know!

But we also need ideas for any future events and people good at websites as well. Next semester is all about YOU and YOUR HELP!
